Day 1: Pick up, city tour & transfer to Volcanoes National park
Depending on where you will be (your hotel in Kigali or the airport), our driver guide will come for you. He/she will briefly take you through the itinerary, what to expect and how to behave. You will have a brief tour through Kigali city to visit the Kigali genocide memorial center, Kimironko market and other tourism destinations in this small beautiful city. In the afternoon, drive North Westwards to Volcanoes National Park home to the endangered gorillas
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking
Have an early morning breakfast and with your packed lunch drive to Kinigi Park headquarters. There you will be registered and briefed on what to expect, the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. The trek to meet one of the 10 gorilla families in Virunga National park starts at 8:00am lasting for between 2 to over 6 hours. Expect to meet various other primates in Volcanoes National Park plus many bird species. You will be allowed to spend an hour with the endangered gorillas, learn their social behavior’s and have fun with your close relatives
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking & Iby’iwacu cultural village
After breakfast at your lodge, transfer to Kinigi Park headquarters for registration and briefing on the rules and regulations of golden monkey trekking. Enjoy the company of the playful and cute golden monkeys which jump continuously over your head across tree branches. Mgahinga National park is the only place to see golden monkeys in the whole of Uganda. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village to learn the traditions, norms and customs of Rwanda.
Day 4: Departure
Have a relaxed morning. Enjoy your sunrise breakfast at the lodge, check out and drive back to Kigali airport to catch up with your connecting flight.
