Trip overview
Your professional driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali or the airport at 3:30am and transfer and set off for a 5 hours’ drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National park located in Kisoro district in South western Uganda. Drive out of Kigali city via Cyanika Rwanda Uganda Border. The drive time from Cyanika border is roughly 2 hours via Kisoro town, local farms and communities. Arrive at Ntebeko Visitor Information Centre at 7:00am and join other travelers for the pre gorilla trekking briefing on the rules and regulations while with the endangered gorillas. You will be registered with by park rangers and put together with other 7 travelers. At 8:00am start up a hike up and down hill in search of Nykagyezi gorilla family. The trekking time can go over 7 hours or less but you are assured of meeting the endangered apes. After meeting the gorillas, spend an hour in their company, keep calm and at seven-meter distance to avoid close interaction. Use an hour to take as many pictures as you want and enjoy the magical moment with the gorillas. Mgahinga gorilla National park is also home to numerous birds, golden monkey and colobus monkeys.
