Safari day by day
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Akagera National Park
This day will start with an early pick-up from your hotel in Kigali or the airport. Have a city tour to explore the beauty of this small and clean city ranked the best in Africa. Thereafter, transfer to Akagera National Park located in eastern Rwanda
Day 2: Game viewing & boat cruise
Go for an early morning game viewing experience in the savannas of Akagera National Park. The guided game drives offer you great views of the big five game grazing, browsing and hunting in the park. Expect to see lots of elephants, Lions, Zebras, Buffalos, Rhinos, Hippos, Elands, Giraffes, Waterbucks, Bushbucks, and Topis among others. You will return to the lodge for late breakfast and chill at the lodge as you wait for hot lunch. In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise at Lake Ihema whose shores shelter numerous birds and water animals
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National park
Today you may have an optional morning game drive to see those animals you might have missed the previous day. You also do an alternative optional nature walk to explore Akagera National park on foot. Have a relaxed breakfast, check out and leave Akagera for Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwestern Rwanda
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking & canopy walk
This day is for chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk. You will wake up early, have breakfast and transfer to Gisakura visitor information Centre for registration with park management. After briefing on the rules of chimpanzee trekking, you will be allocated a chimpanzee community to visit. Together with two armed park rangers and porters, you will start up a hike in search for the chimpanzees. After meeting them, spend an hour in their company, learn their social behaviors, take pictures and have fun.
Day 5: Transfer from Nyungwe Forest to Volcanoes Park
Today you will leave Nyungwe Forest National park and transfer to Volcanoes National park located in northwestern Rwanda. The drive time from Nyungwe forest to Volcanoes Park is roughly 6 hours via Gisenyi and Ruhengeri. Overnight stay in Volcanoes Park
Day 6: Mountain gorilla trekking
This is our great day of visiting the endangered mountain gorillas. The day starts with you rising up very early and having a have breakfast. The lodge will also give you packed lunch for your gorilla trekking. Thereafter, your driver-guide will transfer you to Kinigi park headquarters where you will be registered and briefed on the dos and don’ts of mountain gorilla trekking. The adventure of searching for gorillas starts at 8:00 am. The actual time to spend in the jungle is unpredictable but depends on the location of gorillas. After meeting gorillas, spend an hour in their company to take pictures and enjoy this lifetime encounter. Besides gorillas, Volcanoes National park is home to other primates such as the golden monkeys and baboons, which you may see.
Day 7: Departure
This is the last day on the 7 Days Rwanda safari. Chill at the lodge as you wait for your relaxed sunrise breakfast at the lodge. Check out and drive to Kigali International airport for your connecting flight.
